Display Table and Bookshelf
On this piece I numbered and tracked each slat of wood that creates the shelf surface. I installed them in order, so that you can see the progression of the tree’s internal structure laid out on the surface of the shelves.
Wood is alive. While we use some epoxy and polyurethane to stabilize wood, we avoid sealing the wood with with plastic or other synthetics because we like to let our wood breathe. We use almost exclusively oil-based finishes, which allow for the organic movement and aging of the wood over time.
